Small detail and some extra pics.....

Purchased a nicely machined tachometer plug from a member over on another site.

Freaking thing is REALLY nice and slaps right in in about 2 seconds with no need to remove any of the mechanism at all. Perfect...

.....and just a couple of picks I took recently while out.

Is there anyway you could get me in touch with the person who sold you the tach plug? I'd love to buy a couple. Thanks!
Sent you a PM with details.

Cheers!

Let me know if you need more info.

p.s. sorry for the delay.

Hey dude, just wanted to say-- WOW, great job! I love the look of your bike. I'm in the processing of restomodding mine, and am looking for color schemes and other design ideas. Good job on the thread, love the details and the pictures! How much did that gas cap set you back? It looks gorgeous.

Hey! Thanks a bunch for the very kind words.

As far as the cap goes, it's the most expensive thing on the entire bike! I bought the Cap and latch combo and it set me back $130 US (plus shipping) from Joker Machine. I didn't care. When I saw it, I just HAD to have it so..... It included all the fasteners and gaskets etc.

It's listed for the 750 but it fits the 350 as well. I literally installed it in 3 minutes flat. It was a thing of beauty and the guys at Joker were very helpful and good to talk to. No pressure either. ".........doesn't fit.........just send it back.........no problem."

The have a bunch of little items I'll be going back for in the near future.

Thanks again.

Here's a link to the Joker site........cap specifically.

Bit of an update and something I COMPLETELY forgot to mention in my build thread a while ago. Back around the midpoint of my little build I was approached via e-mail by The Bike Shed (a site featuring both professional and shed builds) . Needless to say, I was more than a little surprised and felt like a newt among giants. I truly felt I didn't belong but they really felt I did. :? I was humble by it all.......and confused. I was admittedly also very stoked and it made me feel that my efforts were amounting to at least a little something. I never look for approval or anything but, at the same time, it is nice when others appreciate what you've been working at. You know?

They insisted on more details and photos so, I sent them in...................not expecting much.

Again, this was a while ago but, here's the feature if you want to check it out. Click here for the feature that I couldn't believe was happening.

Also, I figured I'd post the most recent youtube update video.

Lastly..........another pic from the other day. I love how this one turned out. Next on the agenda will be an engine overhaul. The oil leak is getting pretty bad. :(

That's pretty cool about the article.
Absolutely gorgeous photo. Wouldn't mind a large print of it for the living room

Thanks guys. Cheers.

I was pretty stoked when that all went down.

longdistancerider, if you were serious (can't really tell) and you'd like an original full size file of it, I can send you it. I love taking pics but, I must warn you, my camera really sucks so they aren't really "crisp" photos if you know what I mean. A quality camera is in the works as I've always wanted a good DSLR so but it won't be for a while. Wish I had access to the stuff you guys ride. It would be fun to shoot. There is something about motos that makes them easy and fun to snap photos of :)

Now I'm getting ready and amassing parts for the engine overhaul that's coming. Can't put it off much longer I'm afraid. Oil leak is getting pretty freaking bad. Gotta be done. We'll see.

Get ready for questions!!

Thanks again.

Hey - I just read page one to nine of the thread and I love the way you have done this 350, it has come out looking so cool, understated and way stylish. Just how I would have one looking.

Good luck with the engine rebuild - and don't forget, there are a lot of great CB350 engine race parts you can fit during the rebuild...

hey mate :)

looks amazing! love the contrast between the shiny black and the polished alloy:)
And was suprised how it sounded, thought it would be loud as h... - but nice cool sound!! :)

Thanks for all the kind words guys. Been riding it a bunch lately but I'm getting ready to pull the motor unfortunately :( Oil leak has escalated so I have no choice. I'm thinking perhaps next month when I have some time.

I have the gasket kit here, seals on the way, still deciding on whether to go with OEM pulleys or slider, will do a loads of cosmetic work (paint/polish) to the motor and will also make the move to a Pamco elec ignition. Lots of work that I really don't want to do. The bike is running so well, it seems a shame.

Speaking of Pamco, will I have to change any of the electrical to make it work (ie. rectifier, coils etc) or will all the stock stuff be fine?

I should probably search it out and educate myself ;)

Busy busy.........

Not sure as to whether you need to replace the coils and reg/rec when you do the electronic ignition - but I would do it anyway as it will certainly improve things.

I went with a PAMCO ignition, Dyna coils, solid state reg/rec, new starter solenoid, and new spade type fuse (and a whole new wiring loom - but thats another matter!).

I also intend to do away with my stock carbs in favour of a pair of Mikuni VM's at some stage - probably in six months or so.

Sorry if I missed you mention it, but where is that "salvage yard" you visited way back on page 1? It must not be tooooo far away from me cause I'm semi-close to you I think.
Thanks!

I'm not sure you're too close to me (assuming the accuracy of your Vancouver, B.C. location) ;)

The salvage yard is in Yale, Michigan. I'm on the border in Ontario.
