Most of my Honda twin experience is with the CB350, but I recently took on rebuilding a CB160 motor for a friend of mine.
What are you guys doing for a replacement cam chain? I've been searching around but I haven't had any luck finding one. The DID chains that I see on Ebay are all endless. Judging from how the motor cam apart, I'm inclined to believe that a master link is a necessary feature for the CB160.
There's a Ebay seller called Vintage Advantage who sells an EK cam chain that comes with a rivet-type master link. I'm a bit hesitant to buy this one because I've had a problem in the past where I bought a cam chain (from a different company) with a rivet-type link and I wasn't able to get it to work. The ends of the pins on the rivet link didn't have divots in them to center the peening tool, and they weren't soft enough to peen properly. It almost seemed like it was just an uninstalled standard chain link that was meant to be machine-installed at the chain factory. On other bikes I've had rivet-type links that were designed to be peened by the end user and they worked fine. Looking at the picture on Ebay, the link that it comes with looks a lot like the unusable one that I had in the past. The true rivet-style ones I've used that worked well have a different color metal on the tips of the pins.
So where are you guys getting new cam chains for your CB160s? Is there a good parts source for these bikes? I've used Todd Henning Racing for a lot of my 350 parts, but they don't have CB160 stuff. Thanks for the help.
