Removing bar end component out of handlebar

Hello all,

I am swapping over bar end mirrors on my Honda CD250U 1989 and I cannot get the initial bar end component out of the handlebars. The mirror comes out but there is a bracket style component with a thread for the mirror to screw into stuck inside the handlebars.

Any ideas on extraction?

Try tapping on it, usually it's an expanding type unit that when the screw get tightened it'll spread out and grip the bar. You can also stick the screw back in and tap on that.
