Motion Pro (and other) "Special Tool" substitute parts list for engine disassembly

Hey folks,

I've seen many references to Motion Pro tools being used during the engine disassembly process, but not a whole lot of information on the particular Motion Pro part number. I'm sure there are other vendors that make quality special tools as well! I'm hoping this thread could be used to generate a list of sources/part numbers for these items and maybe even some "action pics" for folks that may not know how to use them. I'll be doing a disassembly soon so I'll put some shots up myself.

If anyone knows any particular numbers and can reply, I'll keep editing/adding to this list:

  1. Oil Filter nut removal tool - Honda CB350 / CB360 / CB450 Oil Filter Tool | Common Motor Collective - Part # 9005
  2. Flywheel/Rotor Removal tool - Flywheel Puller, M16 X 1.5 R.H. - Part # 08-0027 OR Crown Bolt M16-1.5 x 55 mm Zinc Class 8.8 Metric Hex Bolt-04768 - The Home Depot - Store SKU/Part # 401694
  3. Cam/Timing Chain Breaker Tool - Many Options, but something like this: Timing Cam Chain Cut Breaker Rivet Tool Pit Dirt Motor Bike ATV Motorcycle | eBay OR https://amzn.com/B004MSK6AK
  4. Impact Driver - Something like this - Powerbuilt 7.5 in. Impact Driver Kit-648002 - The Home Depot
  5. JIS (Japanese Industrial Standard) screwdriver set (I personally have this set, it's the best thing you can buy for vintage Japanese motorcycles) - Vessel Tools A-16510 - 8 pc. Megadora "Cushion-Grip" Screwdrivers Set With Impact Tool

Thanks everyone, appreciate your input!

Well first off what bike are you trying to disassemble?

Oil filter tool?

Honda CB350 / CB360 / CB450 Oil Filter Tool | Common Motor Collective

Rotor tool is just a M16 X 1.5 pitch bolt no need to spend the money on any fancy "rotor puller tool"
Even this would work

Crown Bolt M16-1.5 x 55 mm Zinc Class 8.8 Metric Hex Bolt-04768 - The Home Depot

The only other "special" tools you would need would be a cam chain breaker, something like this
Timing Cam Chain Cut Breaker Rivet Tool Pit Dirt Motor Bike ATV Motorcycle

and an impact driver

Powerbuilt 7.5 in. Impact Driver Kit-648002 - The Home Depot

Too true, I didn't explicitly call out the 450/500 twin, but that's the engine I had in mind with this thread. That said, since the list is considerably shorter than I had expected, maybe it'd be wise to expand it to the disassembly/reassembly of the entire bike?

Thanks so much for the input!
