It looks like this and i was wondering how to install it on my 72 CL350 because of the right switch assembly in the way. My old one was broken off the switch assembly before so i was trying to install this aftermarket one and ran into this issues.

That one, as you have found, won't work.
You may be able to find one with a lever long enough and with a bend in it to go around the switch gear.
I've given up and just rebuild the old ones with replacement parts. Major pain in the butt.
The lower half of the Honda handle bar control only has the starter button to take off and put on so is pretty straight forward. Usually the small hold down screws are frozen in place. I use a 12volt impact gun to take them out and it is important to put lots of pressure on the bit so it doesn't strip the screw. You will need to source a replacement from ebay or a wrecker.
The aftermarket replacements are usually poorly made and wear out quickly.
