i cleaned my entire master cylinder and when i took off the reservoir there was some stuff under it that, for lack of better words, looked like wet brown sugar. i figured this was from 30+ years of whatever chemical reaction could take place there so i cleaned it. now i have a small leak between master cylinder and the reservoir. i assume that stuff was supposed to be there so what can i put back to make the leak stop"?

The gunk wasn't supposed to be there, brake systems need to be exceptionally clean.

There's a seal around the bottom of the reservoir. Most likely either the seal has a cut, the master cylinder is corroded or pitted or cracked where the seal mates up, or possibly the reservoir itself is cracked.

It's definite possibility. Fill it and dryoff everything on the master with brake kleen and air. Let it sit and see where/if it gets wet.
The air suspension is rated for 1 bar or 14psi max pressure. The schrader valve, o-rings on the fittings or the hose are most likely. Soapy water helps find it

brake reservoir leak from bottom of it right top of master cylinder and runs toward line. maybe a few drips every couple of hours...i have tried the soapy water trick for the air leak but it is so slow it takes almost a day and a half to leak off. not a huge deal but it does become a little sketchy to drive with loose suspension
