I have a 1972 CB175 K6. I bought a 1971 CB175 K5 parts bike because it had exellant mufflers. I tried to put them on the 1972 K6 bike, but they dont seem to mount as well as the originals. The headpipe does not want to seat all the way into the exhaust port. The ones I am trying to use are definitely original Honda mufflers and pipes. When I looked at the muffler part numbers on the "CMS" websight it shows differant part numbers for years 1970, 71 and 72. I would think that they would be the same part numbers. Anybody run into this problem?

Thanks,

I don't know if this helps, but I bought some pattern header pipes for my CL175 K7. Pipes (from David Silver) were advertised as fitting all the upright CB175 engines, as well as the CB200. As delivered, the pipes wouldn't seat properly in the head, so I filed the edges of the sealing flange, using an exhaust gasket as a template, until they did fit.

Maybe yours just need a little fettling, as above ?

Have you removed the old exhaust gaskets? I've found more than one in a head where the PO didn't remove the old ones. They get pretty gunked up and look like part of the head after a while, plenty of people asume a PO didn't fit them because they're the same colour but they're in there
