Putting my front end back together. Looking very good. Quick question about the front axel, are both ends supposed to be flush with the bottom of the forks, I can't recall how I had them before. One end wants to stick out, I have solved this problem with dumb luck before when replacing tires etc... What is the deal with this? The final word?

The hex part of the nut(in your second picture) goes between the fork and the wheel. In other words, take the nut off the axle and flip the nut over. the nut is item 19, as you see it's oriented the other way.
