hey everyone, I'm going to try and explain what is happening the best I can, and hope I can track down this issue.
The bike starts great, and I can get it to idle like a champ. Unfortunately when I take it for a ride, it seems to have a mind of it's own. After riding for a while in town (around 4000rpm) I'l be coming up to a stop light, and I'll pull in the clutch to gear down, but the RPM's will pick up and hover around 4500 for about 10 seconds. If I give the throttle a good blip this seems to help it come down faster.
the strange thing is, I can remove this problem by turning my idle down to the point where the bike will almost stall. unfortunately, I want it to idle, so if I turn it up to the point where it is happy to idle, the bike will run away at traffic lights again.
Another thing i noticed is that it only happens on extended periods of load, if i rev the bike freely, it doesn't get stuck.
here is what i have done to the carbs:
-cleaned with copper wire + compressed air + carb cleaner.
-synced the carbs.
-checked that slides are moving when the bike is running, they are. (removed airbox to watch)
there are no modification to the intake system, stock open cell foam filter is in place.
the exhaust is a 2 into 1 through a 1 & 1/2" thrush glasspack.
the bike has been doing this since I got it, It's literally the only problem with the bike now, and it's driving me batty.
