I'm running the Ignitech unit on the road bike, since 2013. No TPS unit. SPARKER DC-CDI-P2 - IgniTech P?elou? There are several threads concerning this, use these search terms on Google to find them all

Benefits are smooth power, lower idle speed if desired, good fuel mileage, rev limiter. I can get an even idle at @850 rpm. On a US tour in 2014 the best mileage was 71.79 mpg once. Running 70 mph plus I hit the mid 50's, under 60 I'm in the mid 60's. My rev limiter is set for 10,000.
Full disclosure on the road bike, it's modified. Ceramic coated pistons, tuned 2-1 exhaust, VB22 carbs, GM coil conversion, GL1000 stator. Lots of other mod's but unrelated to the engine performance.
I was the first one to do this so there was an issue with the pickup programming from Ignitech, easily solved and no one else has had that happen. The unit is supposed to be able to be programmed while the engine is running but I've never been able to do that, have to turn it off to reprogram. Could be the old computers I was using, haven't tried with this new one yet.
Here's the final programming I did, note that I started retarding the timing at 8K. I was about to wander the US and felt this would help in the event of getting crappy fuel causing detonation.

This what my power curves look like

Maxim, Maximus86, did a lot more with his unit than I have. The factory pickup is accurate. You can do all sorts of programming to the unit, here's a screen shot of one programming page

It comes with mating plugs. Now the problem with going backwards to the Honda CDI unit is that the charging coils for the CDI in the stator tend to burn up since they are no longer connected to anything. This is sort of rectified by building a dummy load unit to plug those lead into. The CX500 guys who do this have had decent success.
I was unsure about the reliability of the Ignitech when I took off in 2014 so I packaged up a spare stator and CDI box ready for shipping to where ever. Now after 3 years and @50,000 miles I feel it's completely reliable and in fact I've sold my spare stator to a member.
This also why I'm able to use the 300-350W GL1000 stator since it doesn't have any of the CDI components, nice increase of available electrical power over the stock 170W.
