I was in the process of replacing the turn signals on my CB400A with a set of smaller 2 wire halogen signals. Full disclaimer I do not have much experience with wiring so may have went about this the wrong way but I removed all four original turn signals and brake light (which I am also replacing) first. Then I wired up the front right turn signal using the wiring diagram and it did not work. I wasn't sure if the turn signals even worked in the first place so I put the original front left turn signal back into the connectors and tried seeing if it would work. When I did that, I heard the flasher click a couple times but the light did not work and somehow the positive wire going to my speedometer lamp shorted out and burnt up. The speedometer is aftermarket but was working fine previously to that. I've studied the wiring diagram to try to decipher why that happened but I'm stumped. I was thinking that maybe the flasher needs to be replaced but would that cause the speedometer lamp to short out? Does anyone have an explanation for this and could help me out? Thanks.
