I have my cases apart. There was no gasket used between them. There was some kind of a very thin brown sealant used. What should I use when putting them back together?
I would recommend Hondabond, Yamabond, Threebond...They are all the same thing. You need to clean off all of the old material, clean with acetone. Then apply a thin coat to all of the mating surfaces when you assemble the case. I use a flat paintbrush to apply it. Whatever you do, don't use silicone based sealant. It will end up in your oil passages.
Thanks for the fast response. I found Genuine Hondabond 4 - 08717-1194 - Semi-drying Liquid Gasket on the 4into1 website (link below). Is this what you are referring to? It does not mention anything about containing silicone. They do have another that is silicone-based.
