I cannot figure out where this spring goes. It fell out during disassembly and now I am able to get the carbs back together and working without it.. manual is no help.. Anyone know?

I haven't torn into mine yet, but it looks like the spring that goes on the throttle lever stop screw. Look on Page 64 (next page) anat Figure 4-107.

Is that it?

Could be the spring that goes between the two throttle shafts. Its not on all models.

It looks too big to be the spring on the air/fuel mixture screw on the side of each carburetor. I agree, I think it is the spring that goes into the left and right side linkage.

It is not the throttle lever stop screw (that is installed). It is also not air screw related (also installed). The two throttle arms butt up against each other. Middletons are you saying that this spring smooshes in between them to push them apart?

That's the little spring that inevitably goes flying when you take something apart. Honda chose to depict it in mid-air flight with no part number, because you'll never figure out where it went or where it came from...

Krukster, I could see it being placed between the throttle shafts like in this sketch I just drew:
