So as the title suggests, yesterday I managed to barbeque my rectifier - CB450 with rectifier but no regulator. How? By carelessly connecting a battery the wrng way round!

The end result - after the smoke cleared looked something like this:
Electrical wiring Wire Electrical supply Technology Electronics

The only wire that seemed torched was the red/white from battery to regulator; but the regulator was definitely U/S.

I had a regulator from a CB750 spare, so I thought I could use that as a temporary replacement - I have a combo unit on the way. The 750 alternator is a 3-phase affair, but I reckoned that by taping off one of the 3 yellow wires it should work.

The finished version:
Electrical wiring Wire Electrical supply Technology Cable

I have wired two yellow to the yellow and pink, green to green and red to red/white. So my question is - will it work?

Just an update; it seems to have worked.

I just wonder now whether anything else might have been damaged - doesn't see so.
