Hello, I was inspecting and lapping the valves of my CB 125 k5 (1975) and it seems that someone bored out the valve seat of the left cylinder intake valve, see photo, and replaced it with a loose ring intake valve seat. Is this common to do? The seat itself is in good condition, only it's loose and am wondering if I should attach it somehow.
Thanks

That is the procedure to replace a valve seat (if that is what happened).
The old seat gets bored out, a new one gets pressed in and faced - it's not supposed to be loose, though.
It's possible that the stock seat just became detached somehow (never seen that myself).
Your options are limited - about the only thing you can do is have a machinist do a proper replacement of the seat, which will cost about $150 or so.

The most cost effective thing to do is to score a good used head somewhere.

Okay thanks!
So next question then, if I would replace the cylinder head, does it need to be resurfaced?
