Hello all,

Converting the rear of my bike from a comstar tubeless rim/tire to a tubed spoked rim from a CM450E. I'd like to use the same tire I pulled off the comstar, a Kenda Challenger 130/90 - 16. Tubeless.

I've read several threads on here saying it's not a big deal to mount a tubeless tire on a tubed rim. Other sources say no if the tire is ribbed inside (this one is). Some say don't bolt the tube to the rim, others say do. Another source said you can't use a tubeless tire on a WM style rim.

Looking for someone with first hand experience with this setup......or if I have to buy a tubeless tire.

Thanks for any clarification.

I can't clarify, but I'd say this is a judgement call. I remember reading once that you can't because the rubbers aren't compatible. If it were me I'd wait till I wore out the tire on the comstar and then switch rims with a new tire.

I have never had any problems mounting tubeless tires to a spoked rim with tubes in. Most of my bikes have Avon Roadriders on them, and all have spoked wheels.
