I have a 71 CB350 I got new forks for. I spent hours cleaning, polishing and rebuilding them. The original forks were the internal spring kind, and the ones I replace them with are the external ones. I just realized that the fork tubes are different on these models. The external ones require the older style top clamp that doesn’t have the side bolts to “pinch” the fork tube. I have already gone through my triple tree and had it powder coated. I’m wondering if I can just get the older style top plate (1968)and use it on my current newer style steering stem (1971). Does anybody know if the steering stem and lower brackets were the same on these models? Will the holes line up fornthe fork tubes? Thanks for the help.
