Hello,

I recently rebuilt a cb350 and I am having an issue where the exhaust coming out of the left tailpipe is much cooler than the right. The header pipes on both sides are hot to touch but the actual exhaust is cooler. I have adjusted the valves, points, carbs, and installed new sparkplugs and battery. When I give it throttle I can hear a minor noise that sounds like crackling in the left exhaust. I am having trouble trying to figure out the cause.

Any help would be appreciated.

Have you checked the sync between carbs? The pressure at the exhaust outlets should feel the same, both at idle and when someone turns the throttle for you.

I realized that one of my tippet valve covers was cracked exposing the gasket. I cranked it down. Then adjusted the fuel mixture on the left carb a slight counter clockwise turn. It appears to have fixed the issue. Could one of the cracked tippet valve cover cause the issue above?
