Hi there,

Since a spirited ride I had a few weeks ago I started to hear a gear/bearing noise coming from the front wheel. Since I've got rid of the original speedometer and now use a speed sensor for the new digital one, I was wondering if any of you have already replaced the speedometer gearbox for something static. I'm planning on doing so before replacing the wheel bearing as I imagine this is a job that requires a press.

Thanks in advance for any help!

I don't think anyone has done this. Creating a spacer to fill the missing gear box is easy, you'll need to sort out a seal to fit the opening and the spacer to keep the wheel bearings on that side clean. The side seals on the bearing are to retain grease and sort of seal them.
The bearings actually can be driven out with a punch, no press required.

Thanks for the prompt reply! I did not know I could remove the bearings by punching them! Will try that as soon as I can!

I've been making speedo gearbox removal spacers for a few years.
Mainly for CB360 ~ 750 but may well fit anything with the same speedo drive gearbox

The only problem is shipping outside mainland USA, postage has gotten crazy expensive the last 3~4 yrs
