Hi,

The speedo cable from my 68 CB450 K1 needs to be replaced, however, Honda has discontinued this part and I am having a hard time looking for this cable for this model. I figure it'd be easier if I just change the speedometer drive gear to one from a K4 assembly so I can use the cables which are available and much easily obtained, which leads me to my question:

Does anyone know if the speedometer drive gear assembly from a K4 will fit my K1?

Nope........same part as CL450, but NLA.
Try EBay
Noob question; what's NLA?
"No Longer Available", meaning from Honda......

You could get a later hub with the speedo-drive in the brakeplate and relace to an 18" rim, but it obviously won't look exactly like a K1 anymore, and the gearing will be for a 19" wheel, so your speedo will be off a tad..... Or, you could run the later CL 19" wheel, and fit a 19" radiused fender.....( I think the K1 had a front 18 stock)...The speedo would then read correctly (gearing changes are in/at the wheel)

Correct me as necessary Bill, I may be thinking of the 350 wheels......

Western Hills Honda in Cincinnati buys out old dealerships and sometimes has NLA parts still on the shelf. Worth a try at least.

Terry is the vintage parts guy.
