I'm noticing my speedo and tach both get very jumpy after about 60mph and 6k rpms respectively. is this the nature of the beast, or is there something I can do about it? I lubed my cables, they are in a little rough shape, but not horrible. The bike seems to be holding steady speed and rps while this is happening. gauges have 20k on them, no glaring signs of water intrusion.
Thanks in advance,
Greg

I've heard reports of old gauges that the old original grease inside them was hardened up and affected gauge function..

Before you pull things apart have a look at the way the instruments are mounted. Instruments don't like vibrations so the less contact they have with the bike the better, the gauges should be almost floating on the mountings with the nuts there to stop them falling off and not to screw them tight to the bike. Excess vibrations will give the symptoms you describe.
