Noob mistake. Putting wheel back on after changing tire and I didn't check to make sure the cap was on in the right direction. Over-torqued a bit and this is the result.

Questions now are:

Can I re-thread it?

Can I replace it? If yes...how to I break it loose and where do I find a replacement?

Thanks for any help.

Hmm.. Too bad the nut didn't strip. You may be able to double nut it and turn the stud out. Some gentle heat might help persuade it. Then you'll have to replace it.

Last one I messed up I removed with a big pipe wrench, gave me lots of leverage and I figured since it was boogered up a few deep gouges from the teeth of the wrench jaws wouldn't hurt

Just to update the thread. I got my replacement (Thanks Boomer!). Removed the old one with a couple of nuts snugged together...came right out. New one went in and I'm back in business.

This forum is wicked.
