Smallest Battery

I am trying to relocate my battery down lower and want to turn it sideways so that I can access my Mikuni carbs better (blasted air/fuel screw). I was also thinking about going with a smaller battery and was wondering what others have used. I am kickstart only and have standard headlight and tail light, and no blinkers, but may add the blinkers back on. I am assuming any size 12v battery will work as long as the charging system is working correctly??

Oh yeah, if anyone knows where to get battery boxes for cheap, let me know.
You could modify the original box to fit where you need it? With a smaller battery in it, you might also have extra storage for plugs, etc.. On my 74 450 I have the original battery box and Mikuni carbs as well. I can still reach the screw on the left carb with a carb tuning screwdriver from the local parts store. Easy peasy.

Just a couple thoughts..

I plan to pick up one of those drivers. Paul over at the other 450 site told me about it as well.

As for your Mikunis, what do you have them set at for tuning? How many turns on the screws is a good starting point?
I think I started at 3/4th of a turn out. I can't give you any jetting numbers as of yet though. I did manage to get it jetted properly (I HOPE!), or at least close, but that was a couple years ago actually. It's been torn down since then. I'll try to remember to have a look at the actual jet sizes for you soon.

When I get the engine done, I may go back to the original carbs just for tuning.

P.S. I'd like to have more concrete jetting numbers myself. From someone who has actually used the same carbs as I am. 34mm I know someone has it figured out. I emailed Hansen racing once, and all they would tell me was "you should've bought the carbs from us". Real informative..
