I have a sl175 that was running before I took it apart to rebuild the top end...everything was set before the tear down...TDC on the compression stroke etc...After I reassembled the motor and set the timing it will not attempt to start...I have fire to both cylinders but it will not do anything...even with starting fluid. There are no marks on the timing advance to indicate which direction that it needs to go and have turned it 180 degrees several times with no luck...ANY suggestions?????????????????????????????????

Doesn't matter, you have a 360° crank, the advancer has two lobes and will work either way. Your problem is elsewhere.

Yes the cam to crank timing is correct and I will get spark at the correct time on the compression stroke but it wont make a single attempt to start even with starter fluid...had a complete top end rebuild and carbs were rebuilt as well.
