Does anyone think the broken fin on my clutch basket could have anything to do with why I can't shift outta second gear?

I will split the bottom cases anyway, not only to search for the missing fin, but inspect for damage elsewhere and carry out the planned rebuild. I have a newer transmission, clutch, shift drum/forks and will also fit new pistons and rings but I wonder if this is the source of the shifting issue?

That piece of the clutch went somewhere, and some small part of it may have made it's way into a position to jam something up on the shift drum or in the gears.

That fact that it's missing from the clutch, by itself, would not affect the shifting.

Thanks John, I will let you know what I discover as it rears it's ugly head. :(

I have a newer clutch assembly, but time will tell what else might be mucked up in there...

Oh well, out to the garage with me...

So you are only in one gear or you can shift. maby asuming that the transmision you never touch it, is the shift arm that goes behind the cluch basket, is not in the position that works . but if you change the gears with dificulty making some play with the shift is the shift drum stoper
