I need an 18 inch reversed (black) comstar for a project.This is a drum brake wheel. I beleave these came on early 80's 750s.

If you ever find one, be sure to post a pic. Not saying they were never produced, but the largest diameter REVERSE Comstar I have ever seen is 17".

I think the CB 750 F models used both types of comstars in 18", but they had disc brakes.

I stand corrected, Mr. TOOLS. I should have specified that the largest diameter DRUM brake REVERSE Comstar REAR wheel I have ever seen is 17", but I would be happy to be proven wrong.

I know the CB 750 C had a reversed comstar with a drum brake, but it was a 16" wheel. I cannot recall ever seeing one with a drum brake in 18".

A rear wheel from a 1982 CB450T may be as close as you are likely to find. It is a 17" wheel.

No, there's so many variants it's hard to keep track of. I had to check one of the fiche systems to be sure

It refers to the configuration of the "spokes". I have attached a picture of a "standard" Comstar.

so the cut edge of the spoke stamping faces out on the reversed ones and in on the standard ones then?

Yes. I've also noticed that the outward section is deeper on later production(450's) than the early ones(400's) as well as wider and thicker spoke sections. The reversed version started in 1979 on the CM400 series. The CB's kept the original version until 1980.
I've heard there were wheel failures on the original versions under racing conditions and AHMRA banned the use of them. I haven't found any documentation of this.
