Hi,

I'm trying to remove the left and right motor covers on a cb175. I've taken all the screws out but the covers won't budge. I don't want to jam a screwdriver tip in between the motor block and the cover just to pry it apart since the aluminum might get damaged. Can any of you experts help out a beginner on what the best way to do it is?

thanks.

There are some "guide pins" (steel tubes) that tend to wedge/corrode in, and the old gaskets are tenacious.... Whacking the cover with a rubber mallet while pulling on any available opening has always been the best way for me..... Take off the round covers and pull there with your fingers while whacking the cover.....

Heat is also your friend. I use a heat gun, that gets hotter than a hair dryer, but in a pinch a hair dryer is helpful. Get it hot, especially where the pins are, then the pull and whack with a rubber mallet system works, after a while.
