Is there anybody having experience or thougts aboat the The VRRPM series rectifier / voltage regulators? I wonder if I should invest this for my cb500T?

+1 on SparckMoto (@76Twin post). I've used Matt's reg/rec on 3 different bikes and they work awesome.

Any modern regulator/rectifier will be an improvement. Watch the size. If you get a physiclly big one there may not be room for it

I'm using the one from Common Motor. I have yet to try my USB charging accessory though

Unless you have switched out all your lights (especially the headlight) to lower wattage LED's, don't count on using a USB charger. You will drain your battery in no time.
These bikes have alternators that barely provide enough electricity to power the bike and charge the battery as is. Even then it won't charge until you've hit 3000 rpm.

By the way that R/R unit from Common Motor is way over priced

The same one can be had for $35 here

I did the Kohler type reg/rec upgrade and I can run for a couple of hours with light on low and a USB charger for my phone and have 12.6V when I turn it off.

Original lights.
