Question regarding petcock rebuild. Can it be done without removing tank? I have two spare peacocks and plan to rebuild one of these before removing the existing one. I believe my existing one is leaking since I can't fully run my carbs dry. And the carbs will refill after a period of time.

It might be a good idea to drain it first though
You can confirm it's leaking by pulling the fuel hose off of the petcock in the stop position, and be prepared for a stream of gas.
Smell that oil as well, if the petcock is leaking it's like leaving it on, it might be fine and it might have filled the engine with gas.

Have drained the the tank. When working on the bike with lines pulled from carb I have had to plug them or bend them back where they are higher than tank.

Reinstalled it yesterday. No leaks. Noticed fuel did not flow from both sides with open lines. Block one side and fuel flowed from the other.
Will run it some today.
Gonna look up crush washer part number for my carbs drain screws.

That's normal, doesn't mean a thing.
