Rookie mistake, tried to avoid this like crazy but it still happened.

Threaded a spark plug the wrong way and now the threads for my R spark plug hole are all gone to hell. I've done this re-threading procedure before on some cars ive owned, i'm wondering what size threading bit i should be looking for for my 73 cb450.

Take your spark plug along when you go to get the helicoil. It should come with instructions that will include the size hole you need.

I just rethreaded my cb350 head it takes the same plugs as my 450 so 14mm is what you need. Autozone had what I needed check page 6 here and make sure you use liquid gasket when you screw in the insert!!...http://www.hondatwins.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=12949&start=50

I did the samething last night when putting in the new set of NGK plugs in the bike i just got. i got it with NGKs so i assume thats what goes with it.

Long story short, both sides cross-threaded and i now need to try and die/tap the threads out to make them salvageable again.
