I disassembled the bike 6 months ago, and can't remember where some of these things go.

1. Do the muffler brackets go directly behind the passenger footpegs on the frame?
2. Does the clutch cable go on the left or right side of the frame?
3. Can you remove and install the clutch aduster cover with the foot peg in place?
4. Oh, and what is the torque spec on the rear axle nut?
Thanks.

That's mainly my fault (6 months) - sorry.

2) Clutch cable goes on the left of the frame tube, also goes inside the left carb.

3) I can't remember (honest)......

4) Observe the chart from the Honda Manual.....

Bill,
The fact that it took so long is fine. I couldn't ride it anyway. :(

Those torque specs are crazy. How can their be a range from 57 to 85? Doesn't that defeat the whole idea of torque specs?
Well, that's pretty tight (for a bike), no matter where you are in that range.
They have to give you sort of a wide range, because you have to line up the holes for the cotter.

Practically speaking, I don't worry much about it, or even measure - I just tighten it down real good with a big crescent wrench and slip the cotter pin in there.
It's not going anywhere........

no behind the frame, left side, no, 57-87 ft-lbs
That's what I mean't. So they go behind the frame and the footpegs go in front of the frame on the same bolt.
yes hanger inside frame, frame, footpeg outside frame...... yeah don't pay to much attention to axle torque just get it tight and then go to next line up for the cotter pin

I forgot to mention that Chris has a torque fixation - he even torques his trousers belt........

well I could see him doing that if he was using Newton-Meters .... foot-pounds are simply to imprecise, might as well wear suspenders
