My front fender on my cm450 is missing the side tab for the brake routing.
I am about to paint it and Right now that side is scuffed off because the brake cable rubs on it.
Is there a trick to making it work without the tab ? or should I go get a new junkyard fender before paint ?

I need to pay closer attention to the model being worked on. You have a E model which is drum brake. The bracket I mentioned is not used on those, it's for the brake hose. For the E model it's just the "wire guide", that round plastic hoop that's plugged into the fender.
Here's the same setup, CB400T1

And here's the disc brake version with the bracket. Using the bracket will make the front brake hard to use since the bends are way too tight

I have an idea.
I am going to Jb Weld a rare earth magnet to a clip then put some felt on the bottom to protect the paint. that should make a good clamp. without any holes :)
