I have 1972 CB350 parallel twin. The gas tank is very rusty, but I found one from a 73 model on eBay ( says no rust). Will that tank properly fit my 72?

Lots of tank part numbers are based on paint colors that varied from year to year, parts fiches may not be much help, but I didn't look at the one cited above, I only looked at partzilla

CB Tanks will fit any year CB and CL Tanks will fit any year CL.
The difference is the length of the Tanks and the SEAT.
If you use a CB Tank with a CL Seat you will have a GAP between the Front of the Seat and the back of the Tank.

But why not just clean out the RUST ? ?

Oh I wonder if that is why I have a gap! 🤔

Cleaning out the rust and sealing the inside of the Tank is a Whole Lot Cheaper than buying another tank...
If you'd like info on the procedure, send me a message on this site.

Yup, easy once you've been through it. Highly recommended!
