1971 CB450 - i have a pretty easy question for you all.

i am starting to lose some compression on my right cylinder and figured its time to do a piston and or piston ring tune up on my moto.

the question is do i need to completely disassemble the head or only remove engine, break the chain and remove the top head bolts to get access to the pistons and rings for this job?

and while we are all here anyone know any machine shops that do cb450 head work in socal.

You CAN break the camchain, remove the head nuts and remove the head somewhat as a unit....(engine out of frame)
You'll still need to pull the tensioner and cylinders off as well to get to the pistons and rings.....

"Headwork" on the 450's is very specialized as valve train clearances are so small..... (.0012")
