You have mentioned a couple of times that you've purchased a complete hardware (nuts/bolts) from the Bolt Depot. Have you done that for a 450? If so, would you happen to have the 'bill of goods' that you ordered?

I could take the time and go through the whole parts fiche but if you happen to have one laying around or sitting on your computer somewhere........

I saw your post the other day on using the button head cap screws for the cases. Those look much great and I think that's the method I'd like to use on on my rebuild.

Mike-

This file was "translated" from Word Perfect, so word may not have picked up on all the formatting properly.
All the stuff is broken down by area - as I added to the final order list, I changed the font to red.
I got everything except the long engine mount (275 mm I think), and the chrome stuff.
Then went back and ordered most of the chrome stuff as stainless later.
Also ordered some of it as 10o-packs, so the list is not quite what I ended up ordering, just a transcription from the fiches.
If the exact lengths were not available, I ordered the next longer length that was - no problems with any of it.
Hope it helps......

Bill, thank you very much, that helps a lot and maybe some others will benefit from it as well.

Where it says 'Oval' Allen, what does Oval mean? Is that just a round cap bolt?

Thanks again,

Mike

Another question. Is the thread pitch the same on all the bolts? I think it probably is except when we get over about 12mm. Is the pitch 1.0 on all the screws and bolts?

The pitch varies with size - generally it's 6x1.0, 8x1.25, 10x1.5, etc.
The ones at Bolt Depot are typically the correct pitch.

The exception is the acorn nuts on the head bolts - they are not the standard pitch, they're finer than normal, had to orer them somewhere else.

I think I used the "flat heads" at Bolt Depot for the "oval" that honda talks about.

Ahh, the "flat heads vs oval heads" makes more sense now.

I just did a spot check and on the list of 'right cover' the parts manual shows a 6x75 long bolt but I don't see anything like that on your parts list. Is there enough variances in bolt lengths on various years that I need to be concerned? The parts list that I referenced is the one on your CD for the K1.

I just answered my own question. The K4 fiche does not show a 6x75 left case cover bolt and the parts list that I'm looking at is a K1. Lesson learned. Lots of documents can be used as an 'overview' but one needs to be sure they're ordering parts for their specific model. Yea, Yea, I know, that's an academic statement but sometimes I've been known to race into a turn I can not see through only to have that turn tighten up on me at the last minute. :)

Does anyone happen to have a copy of the word doc mentioned above? The link isn't working anymore and this would really save me some time with my new 450 project. I swear, every bolt on this darn thing needs to be replaced... :)

Thanks in advance!

Rick
