Looking to upgrade my charging system on my 74 CB360. Looks like there are two ways to go. Some would seem to indicate you can boost the output by changing out the regulator rectifier unit for a more modern one that processes both phases of the stator. (as opposed to the original which only uses one stator phase). Some other kits seem to indicate you need to replace the stator. Specifically I'm referring to the ricks motor sport kit. The only difference seems to be that the Ricks motorsport kit seems to only have two wires coming out of the stator.? The other option I am looking at is the regulator rectifier from Charlies place. Which would not require a stator change out.

Curious to hear form those of you who have done this upgrade what method you used and your results.

I went with a Kohler regulator/ rectifier combo unit on my 350. Maybe cost $40 and has worked great for over 3 years.

^^^^^ That Kohler reg/rect can be had on Amazon now for $10 to $15. IMO, the best way to go. Gives more money for parts or beer!

I’ve put a regulator/rectifier unit from Oregon Motorcycles Parts in my 450 1 1/2 years ago. It works excellent with a new AGM battery and a a usb charger. The company is specialised in regulators/rectifiers for vintage motorcycles and answer questions.
