Should I open up the bottom end?

  • Yeah. In for a penny, in for a pound.

Hi Folks: I'd like to canvas the opinion of the board on something:

I am currently working on a 1975 CB360T.

I am just about ready to go to the machinist and have the head redone with new valves, seats and guides. Going to have the cylinders rebored to +.50

I have been going back and forth about cracking the cases on the lower end. As far as I know (and that's somewhat limited) there's nothing wrong with the crank, connecting rods, bearings etc. and I don't know if it's worth opening up a can of worms. If I do open it up, what would I need to do to check the wear situation and evaluate if work is needed? Is there a way to check things without opening it all up? The engine has about 12K
