Discussion Starter #1
I have a 1968 CL350. I’ve owned it since 1970 and it has 5,000 miles on it.

The bike runs great until I hit 50mph. (Tach is broken). I have been using starter fluid on one side for a while.

I can’t tell for sure but it seems like one carb chokes out and it could be the one I use to put the starter fluid in. I’ve since fixed the starter and put in a lithium battery and I’m not doing the starter fluid anymore.

I have put new gas in it and opened up a little more air in the carbs and that has helped but still it still stutters at around 55mph.

Can anyone recommend anything? Will I have to Remove and clean that carb out or is there a product that can do it through the gas line?

thanks

I like Seafoam fuel additive, poured in the tank. It dissolves deposits and varnish pretty well. It will also loosen any crap buildup in the tank sending it through the fuel line, you might want to put some filters on the lines. Filling the float bowls with carb cleaner, acetone or lacquer thinner then hooking the lines and running the engine is another way to do it.
