So I'm trying to take a look at my clutch components. According to the shop manual, the oil filter needs to come off in order to do that. That's where I ran into a problem. To take off the oil filter, you need to remove a 16 mm lock nut. The manual says you need a special lock nut wrench (tool no. 07916-2830000) to remove this.

My question is:
Is there any way to avoid having to order this tool from honda? I'm looking for a trick to get that sucker off or a way to bypass this step.

Any ideas would help, I'm fresh out.

You should probbaly buy the tool or make one from an old socket if you plan on keeping the bike. You'll need it eventually. I don't see why you have to remove that to inspect the clutch components though?? You should be able to remove the clutch cover without that tool. Although I'm not terribly familiar with that model, I do have a limited knowledge of it.
