Just a quick post. Trying to get some insight. Took off the valve covers on the 450. Inspecting Cams and Tappets. Does the lobe wear seem normal for a old 450? Also noticed the edges of the lobes are razor sharp. Is that normal?

Not exactly perfect, but better than some we've seen. I would be inclined to run them as is, at least for a while. I like to add an extra .001" to the valve clearance settings, to leave room for a little thicker oil film between the parts.
I was able to set clearance .004"
I used the go - no go method.
.005" no go
.004" go

On to setting points/ignition timing. Wish me luck!

I followed...

I've seen were .003" is recommended these days.
