So I took apart the top end tonite. I noticed the rear chain tensioner had slipped down inside. It was not damaged at all but the chain was super loose. I also found this underneath that cap.

It has a rubberized coating on it. Can anyone name this part? Hopefully its from outside the engine.

See pics. About the same size as a quarter.

No... This is the part that "pops" off IF you release the tensioner improperly (too fast without the top end secured)... Please refer to the updated tensioner PDF that Bill posted.... You NEED that part!.....And, you need a new one ....that's history....

Ok i've ordered a new one.

Next question is, do I need to split the cases to get this part back in or can i "sneek" it in by taking the jugs off?

Ebay for the WIN!!!!!!!!!

I got parts comin. So again is there any way to pop this guy in without splitting cases? Seems like I could just get in there with the jugs off.

I substituted part of my hammer size with a blow torch as pictured.
