I'm having a problem getting both points to spark. When I set them in reverse meaning what appears to be wrong coil I get both to spark but it won't start.

When using the electric starter I don't get a spark in one of the sides again. Need some help. This is the first year in 47 years that I haven't been able to start it. Owned this 68 with 5k miles on it since 1970.

Also I recently fixed the electric starter and clutch. Could that have anything to do with it?

Did you accidentally get the Plastic insulator washer on the points leads mixed up and grounded the wire.

It's easy to do that when attaching the wires to a new set of points.

Post a PIC of the Points.

I like this really good video for setting ignition points and timing. I do this all the time on Honda Twins:

Hope it helps

With the switch on and the points open, touch a screwdriver between the points. Does it spark then?
