No Battery, No Winkers? - 1978 Honda CB400T II

Morning.

Pulled the batter out of the bike yesterday to make room for some homemade velocity stacks. The bike starts right up and idles with the kick, runs fine.

However, since pulling the battery - everything works while the bike is running - tail light, brake light, headlight, horn, etc., all work - but the winkers are not working - no light, no winking, nada.

Should the winkers work with the battery out of the bike? I just assumed if the other electrical is working without the battery, so should the winkers.

Thanks everyone.

If you're trying to have nothing in place of the battery, you're going to run up against other problems besides the turn signals. You have to at least run a capacitor. The battery isn't simply a storage device. It plays the role of 'sponge' too.. assisting in regulating voltage. Also, at low rpms, with no battery, things may be 'on' but they certainly wont see a steady 12+v
