Got the bike running (poorly) a few weeks back and noticed my carbs were overflowing and had a small leak. Did a good cleaning and rebuild of my carbs and that solved both issues. Also replaced the master cyliner. Got the bike on side roads running smooth and noticed my speedo jumping around. Pulled cable and cleaned. Got on today and that fixed that issue. Only issues Im noticing now is a rough idle and the throttle doesnt snap back like i want it to. Thats a project for next weeks lunch breaks.
Welcome to the forum. Float needles seems to get stuck a lot on these carbs and cause all kinds of flooding issues. Very good idea to rebuild and clean. My throttle was also not springing back when I replaced new handle bar and grips. I sprayed WD40 down the cable at the grip and rotated thoroughly to lube the inside. Left it over night and it was perfect again!
