Hello All

My name is Eric I just picked up a 1982 cm450 automatic. Seems to be running ok but the carbs are leaking gas from what I thought was the bowl gaskets so I took them off cleaned them and put gasket maker on and put them back on the bike hit the gas and now it looks like its coming from the fuel rail joints on them so I was thinking about using some of this gasket maker around where the joints are. Is that a useless idea? I can get the seals but I really dont want to seperate the carbs if I dont have to. Thanks for any advice!

Well that was a quick transition from introduction to the question. You might add some info about your history with bikes or mechanical work in general though your use of gasket maker tells me we need to start at the beginning.

You'll need to learn to use the parts fiche, such as this one:

There you'll find the part number for the factory gasket set: 16010-413-405

Then this will tell you how to use it:

Yep, you're gonna have to separate the carbs.

Welcome to the group.
