New member intro. Stumbled across the sight searching for help on how to take off the cytrifical oil filter of my new purchase. My name is ryan residing south suburbs of Chicagoland area. I am new to the motorcycle seen. Messed around with dirt bikes as a kid and then after 3 decades decided it was time to by a bike. I I've always been intreged by the older Honda, but life got in the way of ever pulling the trigger. I searched letgo and craigslist for months and finally came across a starter bike that I couldn't pass up. Bought a 1966 CL 160 off an older guy. It had some dreamer fenders and bobber seat on it but the owner had a lot of the parts still. Here is the bike with old seat, fenders already off..

The bike has 9800 miles on the odometer, it kicks over every time with one kick. Runs good and seems like over all in good condition for its age. I have cl160 front fender and some other parts to install. The bike runs adequate but I would like to get it in better overall shape. The low beam doesn't work, light turns off instead of low or high beam when you flip switch. I need to replace cables. Previous owner installed a trickle charger and gave it to me with bike, newer battery but it is not holding juice after like 30 minutes of running. From what I gathered in searches, I need to go over the electrical components.. rectifier looks like its seen better days and might need replaced. Also, changed the oil but couldn't get oil rotor filter cap off to clean, even using the screw trick..I didnt want to break anything so I stopped. I am learning on the fly. Not a mechanic, but I am handy and patient, am excited to work on my own bike and get it back to looking original and running better. An occasional ride to work (not busy route or highway) or forest preserve sunday riding bike is my goal. Here are more picks of the bike in it's current state. Can't wait to post projects on the forum and get feedback from all the great people that are here. Thanks again in advance everyone!

Bike looks very well preserved. You'll be needing a proper service manual. Check your conversations.
