Hi,
The stem bearings on my 1976 CB500T are: upper, 26x48.5x15.2. The lower is:30x50x14.4.
I would like to swap in a set of VF500F forks. The bearings are: upper, 26x47x15, the lower is: 30x55x17. I'm thinking the upper 500T bearing will work. Do I need to find a lower bearing that is something like 30x50x17? Is there such an animal? Something like this is new to me, as you can tell. Thanks in advance for your help.

IF they are both loose ball bearing type,...Use the 500T bearings on the VF500F stem... The inner sizes (where they fit the stem) are the same.......ASSUMING the machined areas on the two stems are approximately the same distance apart, it should work... (stem bearing to bearing length, ie stem length).... A mm or two can be shimmed with a spacer washer as we do with tapered bearings....
The bearing measurements are... Inner diameter, outer diameter, thickness (height)

IF you have loose ball type on one (500T) and tapered rollers on the other, it will take a bit more reasearch as you have to have the dimensions of all four bearing halves of BOTH bikes.....

I can explain better by phone.... 540-427-4256... Steve
