It has been a while since I have been on this site or VJMOG, but I've been getting the itch to turn some wrenches. I'm on spring break now, so I figured since I have nothing but time, I would be productive. The last time I worked on my bike was last fall, but I have taken plenty of pictures for everyone's viewing pleasure.

That's a good looking example. Is that a K5 or K6?

Thanks guys! It is a 1973 so I believe that makes it a K6.

The top one is what it looked like when I started wrenchin' on it last Saturday. I pulled the head and the cylinders off. The cylinders and the pistons look good. I'm just gonna re-ring it and run a hone through the cylinders. It ran really good before I tore it down. The original plan was just to replace the leaky head gasket, but when I tried pulling the head the cylinders came with it. I got the frame completely stripped. I got a buddy who has a blast cabinet, so I will probably take that over there one day this week. Progress is being made, and it feels good. :D

Here are some more pics that I snapped. These are the most recent.

Jerad, glad to see you're getting a chance to get some wrenches flying on that thing.

You might have to let me know who's got a cabinet big enough for that frame, i could use a blast on my 500 frame... :)

It sure does I had a CB 450 in the early eighties but it never looked that good. Mine had the same color scheme but was a '72.

I have to admit I was a little reckless in those days - I beat the crap out of it and it just kept going and going

Well yesterday was officially my last day of spring break, but Saturday night and all day yesterday I was sick with the flu. I'm supposed to be in Big Rapids attending class right now, but the weather is too nice and I think I'm still feeling "sick". Well I have some pictures of the frame and swingarm as it sits right now. I put a couple apps. of aircraft stripper on it. I was a first time user, and it made me a believer. That stuff is amazing.

My friend and I's schedule just never worked out this past week to get the frame blasted, so I contacted my friend who is gonna spray the frame. He said his dad has a nice blast cabinet at his body shop, so he'll do it for me there. Things are starting to come together now. I'm taking the frame, swingarm and all the brackets to get painted tonight at 5:30.

After the frame gets painted, all I will have to do is polish a few more things, re-ring the pistons and get the cylinders honed. Then comes the fun part...ASSEMBLY! Good thing I have about a million labeled zip-lock baggies in the garage. Should be interesting. Well anyways, here is the most recent pic!

That aircraft stripper does work huh.. It blisters skin just as fast as paint I think.
Yeah, I read the health hazards before I attempted it. I had heavy duty industrial solvent proof gloves on, a full blown respirator, and a long lab coat. I probably looked like I belonged to a HAZMAT team or something, but I didn't really know what to expect. Just took heed to the warning labels. :D

Well its Memorial Day weekend, and I have a 4 day weekend! I got the itch today. Three of my friends rode out to my house on their Harleys. I'm hoping to get quite a bit done on my bike this weekend. I got my freshly honed cylinders back from the Honda shop, along with my ridiculously over priced Honda rings. Rings for both sides was $145.00!!!    What's up with that??? Well anyways, my frame and all brackets are back from paint. Time for assembly. I hope to get some pics of the progress up this weekend.
