Hello,

I fix up and ride a lot of old Hondas, mostly CB/CL 350s and 360s, a few CB500 fours and currently a GL1000 (my first GL):) This is my own site, but I think posting it here in the vendor's area is not out of line. I stock lots and lots of OEM and aftermarket parts for the early model Hondas as well as some for the other Japanese makes from the 60s and 70s.

Let me know what you think.

Here is a link to the CB325 cafe project that I am working on, http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=424325&highlight=cb360+revival. It is on the road now, but in a rough state and getting ready for tear down and polish work.

CB/CL350 CB/CL360 Start Block Off

Some of you guys might be interested in this.

It is a starter block off plug that a friend of mine started manufacturing locally. Good for the cafe projects. :D

They are normally $29.99 USD, but I can do 10% off and make it $27.00. I haven't tried this on the CB450 or CB500T so I don't know if it will fit properly, but I'll talk to the guy who is manufacturing them and see what he has test fit them on. I don't have a 450 to test it on or I would.

I notice that he's offering them on Ebay for a starting bid of $27.

Not to rain on your buddies parade but they're available cheaper..

This site has them: http://www.mginproducts.com/mg%20parts.htm

As seen here: http://www.mginproducts.com/1015.HTM

If he wants to try to build a loyal customer base then maybe he should consider offering the Hondatwins members a group rate, and beat other manufacturers prices. If he treats people here right then a lot more business just might be steered in his direction.. Just a thought.... ;)

No offense man.. Just pointing out what's available elsewhere, and showing how competetive the market is.. With that said, you could still contact your guy that's making them and see if he'd be willing to offer Hondatwins members a discount.. If all went well then he could be put on the vendors list here as an honest and trusted vendor.. Bringing him even more business in the long run..

He doesn't sell too much outright. I have no problem with a competitive market. That is what it is all about if your in business. The store is mine and he supplies just that one part right now, although he will be doing more as time goes on.

I would like to offer a discount to the Honda Twins crowd. The fact is that most of the prices on http://www.motorcyclesolutionsllc.com/servlet/StoreFront are set at Ebay prices which is about 10% higher to make up for their fees. I tried to change them all on the site, but there are close to 300 items and I simply couldn't keep up with it. I was looking at how to set up a promotion code for 10% off and I haven't figured it out yet, but I'll get it and post it here. Until then I can do it manually.

I ride and work on these bikes quite a bit and understand that side very well. The store grew out of a passion for vintage bikes, not the other way around ;)

Like I said, I'm not trying to run you off or discourage you in any way.. It's just that if that part is available cheaper then most people will jump on the cheaper route.. BUT if you can offer it to members here then word will spread if good transactions happen and it may just benefit us all in the end.. ;)

Hell, I may just buy one of the price is right.. Never know what direction my old ass project will head into... Once I get my bike sorted out completely I'd like to go kick only with it... Although I'd like to have some custom CNC writing done to the plug itself...

The MG ones are a better quality product as they have TWO sealing "o" ring and don't require blind faith to create a oil tight seal.

In his defense Rod, the shipping costs and trouble to get them mailed out was probably worth the $7.00 ;)

I do tend to agree with you about the sealing o-rings though..

Ok you're most likely right :? buy the more expensive one.

We need to get these parts made for the group at good prices ;) I tell you what, I'll go to my local machine shop and get some made and post them at cost to all the group. So who's up for a starter plug?

I'm in the process of getting swing arm pins made to suit needle roller bearing that still use the Honda outer felt seal, cap and swing arm bolt etc. so a bolt in replacement ;)

I still have brake pistons for cost available to the group and am negotiating the re-profiling of the cam followers with an industrial cam manufacture which should work out VERY cheep compared to NOS.

Next on the list is correct steering head bearings that require no mods and use the original bottom seal etc.

So what else do we need :?:

I have to disagree. I am new to this forum, but I have been contributing and will continue to to so. I will be using this plug on my CB360 based cafe when I tear it down this winter for paint and to put the new motor in it.

I have to say that this is pretty harsh treatment guys. For me, I'm appreciative of anyone that makes any product for our old rides. Do you honestly expect people to spend time making or sourcing these products for pennies per item? For some, this is their source of income. To me, if I don't like the price of something I just speak with my wallet, no need to bash someone over a few dollars.

If I was a prospective vendor checking out this forum, I'd think twice now before posting if I was going to get grilled over every price difference.

I'm not sure if MG's plug uses 2 o-rings to seal or if they send it with an extra o-ring for removal and reinstallaion. I can't tell from their description. A second o-ring in a small o-ring groove on the starter side seems like it would be a good idea, both for sealing and for lateral support. I'll talk to the guy manufacturing these and see about making up a test plug with a second o-ring.

Hi Rod, SOS and anyone making parts
Please do more market research. Do we need three different people making starter hole plugs? Or three different people making brake caliper pistons?
450 cam followers refaced a reasonable price, Great!

I've voiced my thoughts/opinions enough in this thread and wasn't flaming anyone for anything. Just stating simple fact. Now I'm getting flamed on? Really?

I'm out of this thread, permanently.

Too bad the written word cannot convey the tone of voice of the author. I'm afraid it is common for the reader to misunderstand the intent of the writer.
