Hi there,

I've recently completed a top end rebuild and have gone to set the points timings however I can't seem to get any spark at all. I've used a voltmeter to check that I get electrical signal all the way to the end of the wire that runs from the condenser to the contact breaker assembly, however once I connect that wire to the assembly, I lose all electrical signal (down from 12v to nothing.

I'm not too good with electronics and think I might just be doing something really stupid.

Any help would be really appreciated. See photos for more description

Not saying this is the problem but sometimes ,myself included, you get the wire connecter where the wire bolts on the points to close to the backer plate and it shorts out the wire. Very close in there and hard to see. Just loosen the wire and make sure its not touching the backer plate. .If you have power to the points remove the wire and use a OHM meter to jump across the points. Points closed you should have a reading .Points open it should read 0 If the points are ok and you have power to the points look for short at the connector.
